2011 Dolphins UDFA’s

Pat Devlin

Could Pat Devlin be a future starter for the Dolphins?

Free Agency is off to a booming start as news of undrafted free agent signings have been leaking in since last night. Here is a list of the Dolphins UDFA signings, from NEPatriotsdraft.com:

Obviously, the biggest name on this list is Pat Devlin. Devlin transferred from Penn State to the University of Delaware after the 2008 season due to lack of playing time. He had a pretty good career as a Blue Hen, leading the CAA in passing yards per game in 2009. Devlin’s arm strength has always been an issue, however he still may compete with guys such as Tom Brandstater for the third QB spot in Miami.

Nic Grigsby is probably the other biggest name on this list. Grigsby had a big year in 2008 for Arizona, tallying over 1,000 yards rushing and 13 TDs, however he has been battling injuries the past few years. If he can stay healthy, he can possibly fight for a spot behind Daniel Thomas on the Dolphins roster.

Other UDFA’s signed by the Dolphins today:

Jonathan Freeny (DE, Rutgers)
Garrett Chisolm (OL, South Carolina)
Brett Brackett (TE, Penn State)
Vince Agnew (CB, Central Michigan)
Jeff Van Camp (QB, Florida Atlantic)
DJ Jones (OL, Nebraska)
Phillip Livas (WR, La Tech)

Brackett’s a versatile guy, but really doesn’t fit well at any given position. He’s one of the greatest QBs in New Jersey HS Football history and he’s tall with deceptively good speed. That being said, his NFL ceiling is probably a backup slot receiver / TE with maybe a wrinkle or two thrown in to line him up at QB once or twice a season.
