Dolphin Watching: Chiefs vs Dolphins

November 6th, 2011

The Dolphins travel to Kansas City to try to register their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon. Here are some players to keep an eye on:

LB Derrick Johnson, Chiefs- Johnson has turned into one of the best linebackers in the entire NFL. He is a sure tackler and also holds his own in coverage. Look for him to be patrolling the middle of the field all day against Matt Moore and company.

HB Reggie Bush, Dolphins- Bush has had good games two of the past three weeks. Rookie Daniel Thomas looks like he will be playing on Sunday, but one has to wonder how healthy he actually is. I expect Bush to get the majority of the carries and (hopefully) get the best of the Chiefs mediocre rush defense.

WR Dwayne Bowe, Chiefs- With Dolphins top cornerback Vontae Davis out again, Bowe could potentially have a big day on Sunday. The Dolphins pass defense ranks among the league’s worst and not having Davis will make things even worse.

LT Jake Long, Dolphins- The Chiefs do not possess a particularly lethal pass rush, but they are similar to the Dolphins in that they do have one elite rusher in Tamba Hali. In fact, Hali and Cam Wake were teammates in college at Penn State. Long will need to do a good job of containing Hali and if he can, Matt Moore should have some time to get the ball to his receivers.
