The deadline has come and gone for the Dolphins to be at the mandated 53 player limit however there are still a couple of moves the Dolphins can make. For one, they should not go into the season with 4 QB’s, meaning they could still trade or release one to bring in a player at another position. They also have been looking at upgrades to the receiver position. They may wait however until after the first game so that no contracts they offer will be fully guaranteed.

Moves they did make included claiming WR Anthony Armstrong from the Redskins and cutting #4 RB Steve Slaton. They also brought in UDFA OLB Sammy Brown as well as CB RJ Stanford and S Troy Nolan. All three defensive players figure to be special teams contributors and spot duty rotational players at best. Armstrong could become a valuable receiving option once he gets acclimated to the offense.

The Dolphins practice squad includes eight players they will try to develop and see if more seasoning will get them to the NFL level.
Practice Squad WRs Jeff Fuller and Chris Hogan, Olineman Andrew McDonald and Chandler Burden, 2011 5th round OLBer Josh Kaddu, as well as LBer Jonathan Freeny and S Anderson Russell.
These seven spent camp with the Dolphins before being cut to get to the 53 man requirement. One newly signed player is CB DeAndre Pressley who spent training camp with the San Diego Chargers.
