The Miami Dolphins have been very busy in free agency, and as a result their plan for the 2014 NFL Draft has certainly been altered significantly. With some holes being closed, other positions can now be the focus for the draft.

It’s hard to gauge where Miami will value their top positions of need in relation to the draft, because this is such a deep class of players and the Dolphins still have multiple places to upgrade their roster.

There’s no shortage of draft “information” available during this time period. The combine and pro days give us numbers while random reports give us smokescreens and all kinds of irrelevant stuff that mean nothing when it comes to draft day.

But one position that you will practically never hear about is offensive guard. They are strong, but nobody is lining up to watch them or hear their interviews. Yet for the Dolphins, how they approach this massive need can make or break their draft. (more…)

After going through some of the potential offensive lineman the Dolphins could take a look at in May, we now begin to focus on another premium position the Dolphins could look to address, the Cornerback spot.  Our first glance will be at someone who began the year as a consensus top corner, fell down a few notches with uneven play, then appeared to rebound with a strong combine showing which should help him hear his name called in the first-round two months from now.    (more…)

Our last look at an offensive tackle that the Dolphins might consider in the early rounds is a four year player out of the ACC who has connections to new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor who coached him at Virginia.  It’s long been expected that Miami figures to look at the offensive line early in the draft before moving onto other needs that we will explore leading up to the Draft in May.    (more…)
