General Manager Dennis Hickey clearly had a game plan when he went into the 2014 NFL Draft: get high-character players at positions of need who can come in and compete right away.

With five team captains and six small schoolers out of the Dolphins’ eight potential draft picks, Hickey was certainly successful in many ways. He also managed to make three good trades while adding a fifth-round pick and getting some good value on a few picks as well. (more…)

Free Agent Frenzy Begins

MDD Assistant Editor:  Chad Pullen

The NFL’s new year is upon us and in yearly fashion, that means free agent splashes begin at 4:01 EST and in similar fashion to last season, the Dolphins get off to an early start by signing 29 year old offensive tackle Branden Albert to a 5 year, 46 million dollar deal with 25 million in guaranteed money.  Albert has long been rumored to Miami since this time last year when Miami and Kansas City flirted with the idea of a trade but Miami felt the price tag too steep and waited the extra year for Albert to become an unrestricted free agent.    (more…)
