Dolphins Third Round Pick: OL Billy Turner

After a flurry of trade downs in round two, the Dolphins immediately traded back up into the early part of round three to take OT/OG Billy Turner of north Dakota State.  Standing a solid 6-5, 315 pounds, Turner played left tackle in college but worked out at the Senior Bowl as a guard and has expressed interest in switching inside if asked to do so.  In Miami, he figures to slide inside to the left guard position with Shelley Smith manning the right guard position.   Read the rest of this entry »

Dolphins Second Round Pick: WR Jarvis Landry

After shoring up their right tackle position last night, the Dolphins decided to trade down a couple of times in the second-round.  First they moved from 50 to 57 in a deal with the San Diego Chargers that also netted them an extra fourth-round pick, pick #125.  Then from 57, the traded down again, this time with the San Francisco 49ers, dropping back to 63 as well as an extra fifth-round pick as well, pick # 171.   Read the rest of this entry »

Dolphins First Round Draft Pick: JaWuan James

The long wait is finally over and the unofficial “next season” is finally underway.  The Dolphins have selected JaWuan James, offensive tackle from Tennessee.  James was a four year starter at right tackle for the Vols, starting 49 games in the SEC.  At 6-6, 310 pounds, he should provide Ryan Tannehill with more security along a revamped offensive line that was nothing short of a disaster in 2013.   Read the rest of this entry »

Should Miami Dolphins Take a Wide Receiver With a High Pick in 2014 NFL Draft?

The short answer to the question posed by the headline is yes. The Miami Dolphins have a number of holes they need to fill on their roster with their top picks in the 2014 NFL draft, with the offensive line being the predominant need.

But as I continue pouring over scouting reports, watching film, and working on my own mocks and other articles, I cannot get past how good this draft’s wide receiver draft class is, and how the Dolphins’ receiving corps isn’t as solid as it looked this time last season.
